Let’s write OUR FAIReTAIL

Dora D started with a story where family & creativity where combined in a dream to become really sustainable.

In 2019 I (Lynn) started my business by opening a store named BINA B in the Netherlands (Arnhem). In 2021 I opened my second store in Zutphen (NL). From the beginning my focus was on the sustainability of fashion. Over the years I collected a beautiful unique style from different brands where we kept searching for the best ways of sustainability and quality. Since two years I was questioning myself more and more what sustainability really means. Nowadays we have a lot of labels that claims all different kinds of things. This is where the story of my own brand Dora D started.

How can I combine my Artistic background with my sustainable dream?

Let’s start with the important things, Family

My mother is the owner and founder of the beloved brand Billy B. Back in the year 1989, she took a bold step and launched her own garment business, driven by her passion and beauty of the Batik. From the very beginning until this day, she continues to work closely with her dedicated atelier and tailor, who have become like family to us over the years. I have been a part of this journey since I was just six months old, joining my mom and dad in their creative paths. For me, it felt not only natural but also deeply meaningful to begin my own sustainable story here on the islands of Bali and Java, alongside the son of my mother’s tailor. This wonderful connection signifies that we are continuing our cherished family relations!

My Artistic background

At the age of 16, I started in a graphic design school in the Netherlands. Upon successfully finishing that program, I decided to further my education at the University of the Arts in Arnhem. By the year 2021, I proudly graduated with my degree in Fine Arts. My entrepreneurial spirit had already begun to flourish in 2019 when I launched my first business, Bina B, a clothing shop that prioritized sustainability and honesty. In 2021, I took a bold leap and opened my second store in Zutphen, and from that exciting moment onward, I found myself contemplating my next ambitious goal. It became clear to me that my venture needed to be about more than just running a business. This realization sparked the idea for Dora D! This brand allowed me to seamlessly combine my artistic background with my retail. I took on the challenge of creating my own website and establishing my identity as a graphic designer, I embraced the roles of photographer. Using the skills I acquired during my university education, such as silk screen techniques and block printing, I crafted a unique narrative through my creations. This is how Dora D has become the piece that completes my story!

The dream of OUR FAIReTAIL

Since 2019, I have been working with sustainable brands that strive for a better world. But what truly makes a garment sustainable? Often, we see only a small part of a company and not the complete story. This is where I wanted to make a difference by sharing our unique vision and experience in the narrative of OUR FAIReTAIL. In this story, I wanted to focus not just on selling products, but also on the creative process and the collaboration involved.

Together with talented artists and designers from Bali and Java, we are crafting the inspiring tales of Dora D.

My dream is to establish a wholesale platform where other shops can sell Dora D. I believe it’s far more important for people to see, touch, and feel the fabric, allowing them to experience the love and attention woven into each piece. This connection is what transforms mere clothing into a meaningful story, inviting people into the world of sustainability and creativity that we are nurturing.

A story in which we continue to work towards a happy ending in this retail world.
